New Year’s Resolutions often feel achievable and exciting in the short-term. Unfortunately, many of us burn out in the first few weeks and we fall back into regular routines.

In 2017, Grandma would like to encourage you to be kind and patient with yourself. Here are a few tips she put together to help you stay on track.

“And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be” - The Beatles
  1. Be Accountable
    1. Do you have a friend with similar goals? Having an accountability partner is a great way to stay motived.
  2. Be Specific
    1. Create a game plan with specific steps you’ll take to reach your goal. Not only will this keep you on track, it gives you short-term goals that you can celebrate.
  3. Be A Priority
    1. Make time for your goals. This may mean carving out a time in your schedule just for this purpose.
  4. Be Kind To Yourself
    1. On days when achieving your goals doesn’t seem possible, be kind to yourself. Speak positive statements to and about yourself.
  5. Be Patient
    1. Change doesn’t happen over night. Your goals will likely take time to achieve. Try to enjoy the process.
“And when the broken-hearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer
Let it be” - The Beatles
  1. Be Forgiving
    1. When you slip up, learn to forgive yourself rather than chastise. Don’t keep yourself from standing back up.
  2. Be Consistent
    1. The key to progress is consistency. When you are feeling tired do simple things that keep you on track. It could be as simple as doing a 30-minute workout rather than a full hour.
  3. Be Intentional
    1. Being intentional means doing little things that help you stay on track. It may be as simple as getting enough rest in order to have energy to make it go to the gym.
  4. Be Open
    1. Share your experience with others. There may be friends or family that know exactly what you’re going through. Being open might lead to more support.
  5. Be Okay with Failure
    1. Sometimes we fail. We fail to start or fail to follow through. When this happens just breathe and start over. To fail is to be human. It’s an opportunity to see why you didn’t succeed.
“And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow
Let it be” - The Beatles

Grandma began making soap to help her friends and family. Her dream of sharing her lye soaps with thousands of people took time. Every year she has new goals that require patience and hard work to bring to fruition. We hope her tips help you achieve all that you desire in 2017.

When you’re feeling defeated, try Grandma’s herbal bath recipes to de-stress and re-group. Remember to celebrate your short-term goals by being good to yourself. We think Grandma’s Gift Sets are the perfect way to celebrate.

We’d love to see your progress photos and offer you support on your journey. Share your story on Instagram with the hashtag #LetItBe2017.
